Robert (Bob) Simon passed away peacefully on March 28, 2015 at the age of 94. He was born on October 6, 1920 to Eli and Clara Simon. Bob grew up with his sister, Dorothy, in Deer River, Minnesota. After graduating in 1938, he worked at the limber mill for his father and played baseball for the Deer River team. He received an invitation to try out for the St. Louis Browns. Before he was able to try out, Pearl Harbor was attacked and Bob joined the Marine Corp. on January 6, 1942.

Robert (Bob) Simon passed away peacefully on March 28, 2015 at the age of 94. He was born on October 6, 1920 to Eli and Clara Simon. Bob grew up with his sister, Dorothy, in Deer River, Minnesota. After graduating in 1938, he worked at the limber mill for his father and played baseball for the Deer River team. He received an invitation to try out for the St. Louis Browns. Before he was able to try out, Pearl Harbor was attacked and Bob joined the Marine Corp. on January 6, 1942.

During World War II, Bob fought through the Guadalcanal Campaign, August 1943 through February 1943. At the Battle of Tarawa, Bob and his fellow Marines landed on the beach in their amphibious landing craft. As they stormed the beach, Bob was wounded. Through the fighting, he remained on the beach two days until he was finally able to be evacuated.

Bob was sent to Idaho for rehabilitation. It was there that he met Audrey Keele and they were married on December 24, 1944.

Bob and Audrey moved to Seattle, Washington where they raised their two children Jim and Dori. They also lived in Bothell and Lacey. Bob retired from the Boeing Company after 30 years. He spent three of those years in Montana and North Dakota working on the Minute Man Missile installations. Bob spent his retirement years enjoying family and friends.

After 60 years of marriage, Audrey passed away January 4, 2005. Later Bob moved to Harbour Pointe Retirement Living in Mukilteo to be closer to family.

Bob is preceded in death by his wife, Audrey. He is survived by his children, Jim (Janie) and Dori. Bob also leaves grandchildren, Jim (Andrea) and Jenny (Jeff) and great-grandchildren Tyler, Devin and Katie.

Services will be at the Mill Creek Foursquare Church, 1415 164th St SW, Lynnwood, Washington, on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 2:00 p.m.
